Is seeing a male gynecologist considered taking the necessary measures to treat polycystic ovaries, or should I continue treatment with a female doctor?

The default rule is that a woman should seek medical treatment from another woman. It is not permissible for her to seek treatment from a man if it involves exposing any part of her body, except under certain conditions: that there is no woman capable of providing that treatment, that a mahram (definition) (unmarriageable kin) is present, and that only the affected area is exposed, with the rest of the body covered. Some jurists also stipulated that the doctor must be trustworthy.

The more the ailment is located in the face or hands, the more permissible it is to seek treatment due to absolute necessity. The closer it is to the grave awrah (intimate parts), the more it requires a confirmed need or necessity.

Based on this, effort must be made to find a skilled Muslim female doctor. If that is not possible, then a skilled non-Muslim female doctor. If that is also not possible and a skilled male doctor is found, then there is no objection to seeking treatment from him under the aforementioned conditions.
