The basic principle regarding clothing is permissibility, except for what the Shariah has specifically excluded, such as gold and silk for men. Wearing trousers (pants) is permissible as long as they are not tight, revealing the 'awrah, or if the intention behind wearing them is to imitate disbelievers. Similarly, wearing a suit and necktie is permissible as long as the intention is not to imitate.
