Is it permissible for a woman to fast during the spotting period that precedes her menstrual cycle, and is her fasting in this state valid and acceptable, knowing that the cause of the spotting is the presence of uterine fibroids?
If a woman sees specks of blood and then sees purity, these specks are not considered menstruation by the majority of scholars, in contrast to the Malikis, provided that the cotton comes out clean. However, if she does not see purity, then all blood connected to it is considered menstruation.
If these specks accumulate to reach a duration of a day and a night, joined with the blood that follows, then they become part of the menstruation, and she must make up the fasts for the days she saw the specks.
If this is her habit, such that she sees specks then continuous blood, then after seeing purity from the specks, she performs ghusl, and her acts of worship during the intermittent period of purity are valid.
If she performs ghusl, performs wudu, prays, and fasts, then her fasting is valid. If the drops return, she performs ghusl again after they cease until the menstrual blood stops, provided that the duration of those days does not exceed fifteen days (the maximum period for menstruation).
