He must also denounce the evil deeds of his sisters and strive to change them, and he may seek assistance from his brothers or relatives. If gentleness proves ineffective, it is permissible to confine the mother and daughters to the home and restrict them, while still treating them with piety and kindness, if they are able to do so and no harm results. The husband should maintain a relationship with his mother if he sees a legitimate benefit in it; otherwise, he is permitted to boycott her to preserve his religion and the religion of his family.
