Is it Gabriel, peace be upon him, who breathes souls into fetuses?

It is not established that Gabriel, peace be upon him, is the one who breathes the soul into the fetus. Rather, what is established in the texts of revelation is that Allah Almighty entrusts an angel with the womb to breathe the soul into the fetus and to record its provision, its lifespan, its deeds, and whether it will be wretched or سعيدة (blissful/happy). The name of this angel is not mentioned in the شرعية (Shar'i/Islamic legal) texts.
