What can I do for God to be pleased with me and for me to succeed, and is what I am experiencing—failure in marriage and owning a house, and the frustration I feel—a trial or a torment?

Reliance on Allah and taking lawful means are required, and Allah has commanded reliance and promised sufficiency to whoever relies on Him. One must have a good opinion of Allah, be content with His decree, and be patient in the face of affliction, for Allah Almighty says in the Hadith Qudsi: "I am as My servant thinks of Me." Remember Allah’s blessings upon you and look at those below you, for many rich people suffer from illnesses that prevent them from enjoying pleasures, and some of them commit suicide despite having money. Persist in righteous deeds, repentance, and asking Allah to fulfill your need, and do not be hasty in seeking a response.
