Which was revealed first: "O Prophet, say to your wives, 'If you desire the life of this world'" or "O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers"?

The verse of choice (verse 28 of Surat Al-Ahzab) was revealed concerning the Prophet's giving his wives a choice, while the verse of hijab (verse 59 of Surat Al-Ahzab) was revealed regarding the obligation of hijab. The hadith of Umar ibn Al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, indicates that the verse of choice was revealed before the verse of hijab.
