Is it permissible to stipulate that zakat be disbursed for a specific purpose, such as a house, and does that diminish its reward?

It is not permissible for the zakat payer to stipulate to the zakat recipient that they spend it on a specific thing. If they do stipulate this and the recipient agrees, the condition is void, and the zakat becomes the property of the recipient, to dispose of as they wish.
