There is no specific formula for the marriage contract, as what is important is to establish the marital relationship between the two parties with the testimony of witnesses. There is a ready-made formula in the books of the شرعي () marriage registrar or in the شرعي (Sharia) courts that includes the date of the marriage, the names of the spouses and witnesses, and the amount of the dowry, and it is signed by the witnesses.
