Is the mutamatti' obligated to slaughter a sacrifice on the Day of Nahr in Makkah al-Mukarramah?

The Mutamatti' (one performing Umrah then Hajj) and Qaarin (one combining Umrah and Hajj) pilgrims must sacrifice a hady (sacrificial animal) for the poor of the Haram. If they cannot find one, they must fast for ten days. As for Udhiyah (animal sacrifice on Eid al-Adha), it is a confirmed Sunnah and not obligatory according to the majority of scholars. A pilgrim may perform the Udhiyah in Mecca or delegate someone to perform it on their behalf in their home country. Imam Shafi'i and Imam Nawawi affirmed that Udhiyah is a Sunnah for pilgrims in Mina and elsewhere. The Prophet, peace be upon him, sacrificed cows on behalf of his wives during the Farewell Pilgrimage. However, Ibn Hajar clarified that this was the hady for Tamattu' and not Udhiyah. Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah agreed with Imam Malik that the pilgrims in Mina do not perform Udhiyah, because the Prophet, peace be upon him, offered a hady during the Farewell Pilgrimage but did not perform Udhiyah. The matter is flexible.
