Is the pilgrim performing Tamattu' Hajj required to sacrifice an animal on the Day of Nahr in Makkah al-Mukarramah?

The pilgrim performing Hajj al-Tamattu' or Hajj al-Qiran (definition) must offer a hadi (sacrificial animal) for the poor of the Haram (definition). If he cannot find one, he must fast for ten days. The udhiyah (definition) (sacrificial animal offered on Eid al-Adha) is a confirmed Sunnah (definition) and not obligatory, according to the preponderant opinion of scholars. It is permissible for the pilgrim performing Tamattu' or Qiran to offer an udhiyah in addition to the hadi, whether in Mecca or by authorizing someone to sacrifice on his behalf in his home country, and he will be rewarded for that. The udhiyah is a Sunnah for the pilgrim in Mina, just as it is a Sunnah for others. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, sacrificed cows on behalf of his wives. Scholars differed as to whether the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, offered an udhiyah during the Farewell Pilgrimage or merely offered a hadi. The verified opinion is that he offered the hadi for Tamattu', and therefore, this does not serve as an argument against those who say there is no udhiyah for the people in Mina.
