What is the virtue and reward of accompanying the sick?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Kindness to the weak and the sick, and attending to their needs, are among the purest deeds in the sight of Allah. Many sacred texts have been revealed that encourage this and demonstrate its great reward. Serving and caring for the sick is an act of kindness beloved by Allah, and a charity. It is among the deeds most beloved to Allah, just like bringing joy to a Muslim or relieving their distress. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded Uthman ibn Affan, may Allah be pleased with him, to stay with his sick daughter and thus be absent from Badr. Yet, he received the reward of those who participated in it and their share. The companion of the sick person must be patient and merciful, as these are among the characteristics of the people of Paradise.
