Does the following oath take effect: "If you go out with the door, you are divorced," if the wife remains in the house and does not go out?

As long as the wife does not leave the house, the divorce does not take effect, and nothing is binding on the questioner due to this suspension.

If the questioner's intention was to prevent her from leaving at a specific time or for a specific reason, then he does not break his oath if she leaves after that time or for another reason; because intention in an oath particularizes the general and restricts the absolute.

This is according to the majority of scholars. As for the view of Ibn Taymiyyah, if the questioner intended by the suspension to prevent and threaten, and did not intend to effect a divorce, then no divorce occurs, but an expiation for an oath becomes binding on him.
