The calamity is lessened by the servant's knowledge that what afflicts him is a destiny written by Allah fifty thousand years before the creation of the heavens and the earth, and there is no repeller of His decree. Ibn al-Qayyim said: "Among its remedies is for him to know with certainty that what afflicted him was not destined to miss him, and what missed him was not destined to afflict him," in accordance with the Almighty's saying: {No disaster strikes upon the earth or among yourselves except that it is in a register before We create it - indeed that, for Allah, is easy - In order that you not grieve over what has eluded you and not exult [in pride] over what He has given you.}

And Allah's decrees proceed with His wisdom and mercy, for He is more merciful to us and more knowledgeable of our interests. The Almighty said: {But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah knows, while you know not.} And due to his ignorance of his own interests, the servant prefers the immediate over the deferred.

It is advised to seek a righteous woman for marriage, for that may remove the attachment and dispel the thoughts.
