How can a young man reconcile his desire to marry a girl of his choosing with his parents' disapproval of this choice?

Whoever wishes to marry should choose a woman of good character and religious commitment, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Succeed with the one who is religious, may your hands be soiled." He should also seek permission from his parents and consult them. If he desires a specific woman and his parents order him to leave her, he should leave her in obedience to them, unless he fears falling into haram. If they do not order him to leave her but he knows their desire for him to do so, he should strive to convince them and appease them as much as he can. If he cannot, then he may proceed.
