The answer

Allah has permitted men to practice polygyny if they are capable of fulfilling the duties arising therefrom, and there is no disagreement on this matter. If something is proven to be lawful, a Muslim must accept it and submit to it. Allah Almighty says: "But no, by your Lord, they will not believe until they make you judge in disputes between them, and then find no discomfort in their souls from what you have decided, and submit in full submission." Therefore, a wife's psychological distress over her husband marrying another, if it is merely due to his act of marrying, is not considered an injustice to her, and she must accept what Allah has decreed. The husband, however, should choose the best methods and be gentle with her, explaining to her that his marriage will not affect her, which will alleviate her psychological pain.
