The hadith in question was narrated by Bukhari and Muslim from Maymunah bint al-Harith (may Allah be pleased with her), that she emancipated a slave girl without seeking the Prophet's permission (peace and blessings be upon him). When he learned of this, he said: "Had you given her to your maternal aunts, your reward would have been greater."
