What is the explanation of Luqman's saying: "Do not learn knowledge to boast of it before scholars, or to argue with the foolish, or to show off with it in gatherings"?

The narration mentioned about Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) was reported by Imam Ahmad, in which he forbade learning knowledge for the purpose of boasting before scholars, or arguing with fools, or seeking fame in gatherings. This is an encouragement to purify one's intention for Allah in seeking knowledge. This meaning has also been reported in the Prophet's ﷺ hadith: "Whoever learns knowledge to boast thereby before the scholars, or to argue thereby with the foolish, or to turn the faces of people towards him, Allah will admit him into Hell."
