Is it permissible for a father to designate a farm, representing the share of one individual, for one of his sons in exchange for that son’s relinquishment of his claim to the rest of the properties in order to manage this farm? And is it permissible for a father to divide his inheritance during his lifetime?

A father is permitted to divide his inheritance during his lifetime among his children, unless he intends to harm some of them. This is considered a gift, and justice must be observed therein, by giving the male the equivalent of the share of two females when preferring in the gift, or by absolutely equalizing all children in the gift. So, if a father gifted a farm to one of his sons, he must give the other males an equivalent amount and the female half of what the male receives. However, if the preference is made with the consent of the remaining adult, mature children, then there is no harm.
