Do seeking forgiveness, glorifying God, and reading the Qur'an expiate sins and erase transgressions, or are they recorded as good deeds?

Sincere repentance erases sins, provided one abandons the sin, regrets it, and resolves not to return to it. If the sin involves the right of another human being, then the right must be restored to its owner. One must make up missed prayers. Repentance, seeking forgiveness, abundant remembrance of Allah (dhikr), and reciting the Qur'an are among the righteous deeds that expiate evil deeds.
