How is temporary marriage (mut'ah) made lawful and how was it made unlawful? And is the verse: (So for a period you profit from them, give them their prescribed due) the one that made mut'ah lawful, and what was the reason for its revelation?

"Mut'ah (temporary marriage) was initially permitted at the dawn of Islam, then it was forbidden until the Day of Judgment, as stated in Sahih Muslim, with the Prophet (peace be upon him) saying: 'O people, I had permitted you to engage in temporary marriage with women, but Allah has forbidden it until the Day of Judgment. So whoever has any of them, let him release her, and do not take back anything you have given them.' The consensus of Muslims on its prohibition has been reported, and Ibn Abbas retracted his fatwa permitting it. The verse: (And those who guard their private parts, except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they are not to be blamed) indicates that Mut'ah marriage is forbidden, because one who engages in Mut'ah with someone other than a wife or a slave woman is considered among those to be blamed."
