How does a latecomer pray the Eclipse Prayer (Salat al-Kusuf) and the Eid Prayers? And does he complete his prayer in the same manner as the Imam? For example, if he misses a rak'ah in the Eid Prayer, does he say five takbeers? And if he misses a rak'ah in the Eclipse Prayer, does he make it up with two bowings (ruku') separated by Qur'an recitation?

Whoever misses the first rak'ah of the Eid prayer should perform it after the Imam's salutation, saying five takbeerat. And whoever misses the first rak'ah of the eclipse prayer should perform a rak'ah comprising two standing postures and two bowings after the Imam's salutation. Scholars differ on what constitutes catching a rak'ah of the eclipse prayer: the Hanbalis and Shafi'is consider it to be catching the first bowing, while the Malikis consider it to be catching the second bowing. It is permissible to perform the eclipse prayer with one bowing, similar to a supererogatory prayer.
