Are the angels included in the verse: "And of everything We created two mates; perhaps you will remember"?

The exegetes differed regarding the interpretation of the verse, "And of every thing We created two mates (pairs)," into two opinions. The most accurate of these is that "two mates" (zawjayn) means two types or two different kinds, such as happiness and misery, guidance and misguidance. According to this opinion, there is no issue in including angels within the meaning of the verse. The second opinion is that "two mates" refers to male and female. In this case, angels are not included in this generality, because the generality of (every) is according to its context, and the reference here is to created things in the "perceptible world" for people to benefit from, thereby manifesting the wisdom of the blessings. The preponderant view is that "two mates" in the verse refers to contrasting or opposing categories, and this indicates the perfection of Allah's power.
