Is the request for a gift after winning, or feeling sad for not getting it, considered seeking knowledge for other than Allah's sake?

If a student of knowledge seeks knowledge for the sake of Allah the Almighty, then his expectation that his family will give him gifts on the occasion of his success does not affect that. The fact that he anticipates encouragement or a worldly benefit does not make him a show-off (murā'ī). The one who is prohibited is he who seeks knowledge desiring nothing but a worldly interest. As for one who seeks knowledge for the sake of Allah the Almighty, and has a slight inclination towards worldly عرض, he is outside of this threat. There is no harm in encouraging prizes for seeking knowledge or memorizing the Qur'an, as they are a means to achieve a noble legitimate goal. The Muslim woman should accustom herself to contentment and abstention from what is in the hands of people.
