Is it permissible to pray the Night Vigil (Qiyam al-Layl) or the Sunnah of Isha after two rak'ahs of Witr, while delaying the last rak'ah of Witr?
It is better and preferable to pray the (voluntary) prayer of 'Isha immediately after the 'Isha obligatory prayer. However, there is no harm in delaying it until midnight. Then, you may pray as many voluntary prayers and night prayers ( al-Layl) as you wish, concluding your night prayers with Witr. It is permissible to pray the two rak'ahs of Shaf' or Qiyam al-Layl before the Sunnah prayer of 'Isha, as long as its time remains, even though the first order mentioned is in accordance with the Sunnah. There is no objection to praying two rak'ahs or more before the Sunnah prayer of 'Isha. It is Sunnah to pray two, four, six, eight, or ten rak'ahs before the Witr rak'ah. What precedes Witr is called "Shaf'", and sometimes all of it is called "Witr."
