What is the interpretation of a dream about searching for a former suitor, and seeing a disabled person transform into an unknown healthy one, in light of the dilemma of choosing between an absent suitor and another who wants to limit the marriage to the contract?

The fundamental criteria for choosing a spouse are religious commitment (deen) and character (khuluq), based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "If there comes to you one whose character and religious commitment you are pleased with, then marry him. If you do not do so, there will be tribulation on earth and widespread corruption."

If the second suitor is pleasing in his religious commitment and character, we advise you to accept him, whether you break off the engagement with the first one or not, and whether the second suitor knows about it or not.

It is recommended to publicize the marriage by any lawful and customary means, such as a wedding feast (walimah), gathering people, or playing the duff (a type of drum).

Seeking guidance from Allah (istikharah) is recommended for marriage and other permissible matters. The preponderant view is that the person who performs istikharah should proceed with the matter and not abandon it unless Allah diverts them from it.
