If a father repeatedly rejects competent suitors with the intention of preventing his daughter from marrying, or by imposing difficult conditions on a suitor of good character and religious commitment, she may refer the matter to the Sharia (definition) courts to remove the injustice. It is recommended to be patient with the father's harm, and the father is also advised to show mercy to his daughter and to be reminded of the hadith (definition): "If someone whose religion and character you are pleased with comes to you seeking marriage, then marry him. If you do not do so, there will be tribulation on earth and widespread corruption." It is advised to continuously counsel him and seek help from people of good, while increasing acts of worship and supplicating for the facilitation of a righteous husband.
