How can one coexist with a society in which evildoers are many and the listening to songs and sinful talk is prevalent, given the inability to tolerate sitting with them?

The optimal way to coexist with society is to associate with people in goodness, to be patient with their harm, to show kindness to them, and to distance oneself from them in evil and from the superfluous permissible matters, while seizing appropriate opportunities for advice and reminding. For the Muslim who associates with people and is patient with their harm is better than one who does not associate with them and is not patient with their harm. And associating with people must be based on enjoining good and forbidding evil, with compassion for them and seeking excuses for them, and avoiding disdain for disobedient people and looking down on them, which indicates maladies such as conceit and and arrogance.
