Is the wife required to resume the 60-day expiation fast from the beginning, or to complete the remaining days after her husband had intercourse with her during the expiation fast?

If the husband coerces his wife into intercourse while she is observing the two-month consecutive fast [as an expiation], her fasting continuity is not broken, and she is not required to make up the fast or offer expiation, according to the sounder opinion. She should complete the remainder of her fast.

However, if she willingly complies, the continuity is broken, and she must restart the two-month consecutive fast. She is permitted to begin the fast before Ramadan, and the continuity is not broken by the intercalation of Ramadan, or an obligatory fast, or a legitimate excuse permitting the breaking of the fast.

Many scholars hold that the expiation must be performed immediately, so the husband is not permitted to prevent his wife from fasting it.
