Why did the Holy Qur’an mention the father’s grief at the loss of his son Yusuf, but not the mother’s grief, even though a mother’s grief for her child is more intense?
Yusuf (peace be upon him)'s mother was Rachel. She died when he was young, during the postpartum period after the birth of his brother Benjamin. This is why she is not mentioned in the Qur'an. And Allah's saying: "And he raised his parents upon the throne" means his father and his aunt, not his mother. The Qur'anic stories focus on lessons and admonitions.
