Is obedience to the older brother obligatory in the presence of the parents, especially if the father is absent? And is his obedience obligatory despite his inappropriate style? And does this obedience differ with the father's presence at home?

Brothers should show mercy, the elder to the younger, and the younger should show respect to the elder; as per the Hadith: "He is not of us who does not show mercy to our young and does not respect our elders." The elder brother has the authority to discipline his younger siblings, especially in the absence of the father, in which case he becomes responsible for the family. If the father is present, the father manages the household, and if he commands obedience to the elder brother, or if that is the custom, then obedience is obligatory. The elder brother's follow-up with his younger brother regarding his studies and affairs is a sign of his maturity and care, and the younger one must obey him. The elder brother has the right to command the cleaning of the house and assisting the mother and sisters, and the younger one must obey as long as it is a command for good. The elder brother must command with gentleness and leniency. If he is harsh, the younger brother should admonish him, and assistance can be sought from the parents to maintain family cohesion and love.
