Does the sin of smoking negate good deeds, and is a smoker considered impure, wicked, or hypocritical in Islam?

Smoking is a sin, and persistence in it elevates it to a major sin. Therefore, a smoker who knows of its prohibition and persists in it is described as a dissolute person (fasiq). Hence, immediate repentance from smoking is obligatory, and one should not rely on good deeds to expiate this sin, because the acceptance of deeds is in Allah's hands. The believer obeys Allah and remains fearful that his deeds may not be accepted, as stated in the description of the believers: "And those who give what they give while their hearts are trembling that they will return to their Lord." Therefore, seek Allah's help and repent to Him to quit smoking.
