What is the ruling on muezzins raising their voices with loudspeakers with the words "Suhur, Suhur" to alert people for Suhur, and also on some individuals walking through the streets with instruments for the purpose of waking people for Suhur, and is there reward in these actions?

"Al-Tas'hir," which is the act of waking people for Suhoor (definition) (the pre-dawn meal) through spoken words, chants, or drums, is an innovated bid'ah (religious innovation). If it involves musical instruments and entertainment, its sin and repulsiveness are even greater, because musical instruments are forbidden. Ibn al-Hajj al-Maliki mentioned that Al-Tas'hir was not practiced during the time of the Prophet, peace be upon him, nor did he command it, and all goodness lies in following the Sunnah (definition). He affirms that Al-Tas'hir has no basis in Islamic law. The legitimate alternative for alerting people to Suhoor is the first Adhan (definition) (call to prayer) before Fajr, as Bilal used to do.
