What is the ruling on women's group dancing with foreign songs, seductive movements, and tight clothing, in the absence of men, and their belief that it is not unlawful?

Expressing joy is permissible within the bounds of Islamic etiquette. The highest means of expressing joy is prostrating to Allah in gratitude (sujud shukr). There are other means taken from the Salaf (pious predecessors), such as smiling, wearing new clothes, beating the duff (a type of drum), and light poetry, as long as there is no prohibition against them, they do not contradict a Sharia objective, and do not lead to corruption.

However, dancing, wearing clothes that reveal the 'awrah (parts of the body that must be covered), and imitating disbelievers and transgressors, constitute overstepping the boundaries of Sharia. Allah Almighty has condemned excessive joy that stems from arrogance, saying: "Indeed, Allah does not like the rejoiceful [i.e., those who exult in their wealth and pride]" (28:76). Moreover, these women's gatherings that include dancing, singing, provocative music, revealing clothes, and alluring perfumes are causes for lesbianism and dens for devils.
