How can fixed furnishings like carpets in a mosque or a car be purified from dog urine or its saliva?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

To purify large carpets from impurity that cannot be wrung out, the impurity itself must first be removed. Then, water should be poured over it and dried several times until it is highly probable that the impurity and its traces have been removed. If the impurity is from a dog, it should be washed seven times with water, with one of these washes using soap or any other cleanser instead of earth. Smelling does not cause impurity, but saliva makes what it touches impure and must be washed seven times. It is not permissible to keep dogs except for guarding crops, livestock, or hunting; otherwise, the owner's reward will be decreased by one or two Qirats each day.
