Does the presence of a dove and its placing of tree branches in front of the house, and its repeating this after cleaning, indicate the coming of sustenance, as has been said?

There is no legal or rational evidence to prove that a dove building its nest near a house brings or increases sustenance (rizq); rather, it is closer to pre-Islamic (Jahiliyyah) beliefs. Reliance on impermissible or irrational means is prohibited. Means are of two types: legitimate (shar’i), such as the Qur’an and supplication, and empirical (hissi), such as physical medicines. As for mere illusions and superstitions, it is not permissible to rely on them, because they are neither legitimate nor empirical means. To consider them as means is to contend with Allah and associate partners with Him. Sustenance comes through work, diligence, and utilizing means, the greatest of which is fearing Allah (taqwa) and obeying Him.
