If the harm of a food is confirmed by trustworthy experts, then it is not permissible to consume it, even if it is originally lawful. However, if the harm is not confirmed, or if it is minor and tolerable, or merely a doubtful possibility, then it remains on its original permissibility. The ruling on selling it is the same as the ruling on consuming it, in terms of lawfulness and unlawfulness.
