If a man makes a vow and fulfills it, is he permitted to eat from it or not?

A vow must be fulfilled in the manner specified by the one who made it. If no specific manner is designated, then it is given as charity to the poor and the needy. The one who made the vow may eat from the vowed item if it is customary in his country to do so, or if he intended to eat from it, or if he stipulated this in his vow; based on the Prophet's (PBUH) saying: "Deeds are only by intentions, and every person will have what he intended."
