What should I do about my feeling of pride due to my academic excellence in the field of electricity, and am I sinful for it, and how can I show gratitude to Allah for this blessing?

Souls are predisposed to desire people's praise and commendation, and this is something that is neither absolutely blameworthy nor praiseworthy. And whoever is praised for a talent bestowed upon him by Allah, he must not belittle people or see himself as superior to them, or believe that it is from his own earning and not a favor from Allah, for that is from arrogance (kibr) and conceit (ujb). Arrogance is a person's admiration of himself and seeing himself as greater than others, while conceit is the magnification of a blessing while forgetting to attribute it to the Bestower. So, whoever thanks Allah for His blessings and is humble towards His creation, his joy at people's praise for what Allah has bestowed upon him will not harm him. Thanking Allah the Almighty is done with the tongue, heart, and limbs, and its meaning is that the servant should expend every blessing in obedience to Allah and seeking His pleasure, and not expend any of that for other than Him. The reality of thankfulness is acknowledging the blessing to the Bestower, and that it should not be expended in other than His obedience.
