Is a mother responsible for the death of her two-year-old son as a result of his touching an electrical cutter lying on the ground?

If the son died because he was carrying a discarded electrical wire, and the father had no hand in that, then there is no blood money (diyya) or expiation (kaffarah) due from him. This is because his death resembles a natural death that could not have been prevented. The jurisprudential rule states: "That which cannot be guarded against incurs no liability."
