Does the noble verse: "Indeed, those who believed and those who were Jews or Christians or Sabeans – those who believed in Allah and the Last Day and did righteousness – will have their reward with their Lord, and no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve," mean that some non-Muslims will enter Paradise, and what is the ruling concerning one who was from the People of the Book and believed in the Messenger Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, and disavowed polytheism and distortion in his creed, and remained upon what is sound of it, such as prayer, fasting, and acts of worship specific to the laws brought by Moses and Jesus, peace be upon them?

The verse: إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَالَّذِينَ هَادُوا وَالنَّصَارَى وَالصَّابِئِينَ مَنْ آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا فَلَهُمْ أَجْرُهُمْ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ وَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ [Al-Baqarah:62] (Indeed, those who believed and those who were Jews or Christians or Sabeans - whoever believed in Allah and the Last Day and did righteousness - will have their reward with their Lord, and no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve), means that among the aforementioned groups in the verse, whoever followed the law of the prophet of their time and died upon that before the advent of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is among the people of salvation. However, after the advent of the Final Prophet, true faith and righteous deeds are only achieved through belief in him and what he brought, and by following his abrogating law. And whoever believes that it is permissible to deviate from the law of Muhammad (peace be upon him) after his advent is a disbeliever.
