Is anyone who believes in Christianity or any other religion considered a disbeliever or a polytheist after the advent of Islam, and will anyone who dies on a religion other than Islam not enter Paradise, or is a Christian considered a People of the Book and may enter Paradise based on His saying, the Almighty: "You will surely find the most intense of people in animosity toward the believers to be the Jews and those who associate others with Allah; and you will surely find the nearest of them in affection to the believers to be those who say, 'We are Christians.' That is because among them are priests and monks, and they are not arrogant"?

Every religion other than Islam, after the advent of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, is rejected for its adherent, and he will be among the losers in the Hereafter. As Allah Almighty said: (And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted from him, and in the Hereafter he will be among the losers) [Aal 'Imran: 85], and as Allah Almighty said: (Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam) [Aal 'Imran: 19].

The aforementioned verses from Surah Al-Ma'idah (82-86) detail the situation of the People of the Book. They describe the Jews and the polytheists as the most intense in enmity toward the believers, while they describe those who say, "We are Christians," as the closest in affection to the believers. This is due to the presence of priests and monks among them who are not arrogant, and when they hear the truth, their eyes overflow with tears, and they believe. So Allah rewards them with Gardens wherein they will abide eternally. As for those who disbelieved and denied the signs of Allah, those are the companions of the Hellfire.
