Will contemporary Christians and Jews who have died and not entered Islam enter Paradise, or are they disbelievers abiding eternally in the Fire?
Those to whom the call of Islam has reached, and who have heard of the Prophet, peace be upon him, but did not believe in him, are disbelievers in this world and will abide eternally in Hellfire in the Hereafter if they die upon their disbelief. This is based on the Almighty’s saying: "And whoever desires a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted from him, and in the Hereafter he will be among the losers," and His saying: "Indeed, those who disbelieve in Allah and His messengers and wish to differentiate between Allah and His messengers and say, 'We believe in some and disbelieve in others,' and wish to adopt a way in between – those are the disbelievers, truly. And We have prepared for the disbelievers a humiliating punishment." And based on the saying of the Prophet, peace be upon him: "By Him in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, no one from this nation, neither a Jew nor a Christian, hears of me and then dies without believing in that with which I was sent, but that he will be among the people of the Fire." And whoever does not believe in Muhammad, peace be upon him, after hearing of him, has not believed in his own prophet who foretold him.
