What is the ruling regarding a widow removing hair from her face, arms, and legs, and applying makeup when attending weddings and joyous occasions?

There is no blame upon a woman for removing hair from her body, except for the eyebrows, whether she is a widow or not. It is permissible for her to beautify herself with makeup and other adornments, provided that only her husband, her mahrams, or other women see her in that state, unless she is in the period of 'iddah (mourning).
