The answer

It is forbidden for a widow to adorn herself during the (waiting period), but she is permitted to clean herself, clip her nails, and remove permissible hair. After the iddah concludes, she is allowed to adorn herself. As for tabarruj (displaying oneself immodestly) and showing adornment in front of non- men, it is forbidden for all women, based on the Almighty's saying: "And abide in your houses and do not display yourselves as [was] the display of the former times of ignorance."
