What is the ruling on the zakat of barley crops, which one person plants and another harvests, with both agreeing to divide the yield equally, if it reaches the nisab according to the Maliki school of thought?

If the partners agree that the crop is to be shared among them, then zakat (definition) pertains to each individual's share separately. If his share reaches the nisab (definition), he pays zakat; otherwise, he is not obligated to pay zakat, even if the total crop reaches the nisab. This is the opinion of the majority of scholars. The legal nisab for wheat and barley is five wasq, and one wasq is sixty sa'a. Wheat and barley are combined to reach the nisab. The obligatory zakat for crops irrigated by rainwater is one-tenth, while for those irrigated by machinery, it is one-half of one-tenth.
