I want to pray, but I don't know what is preventing me?

A Muslim has enemies who prevent him from performing acts of obedience, and they are:

1. The Self (Nafs): It is inclined to evil, and repelling it requires striving against it and curbing its desires. 2. Ignorance: The most dangerous types are ignorance of Allah, of this world (Dunya), and of the Hereafter. This enemy is repelled by knowledge. 3. Satan: He invites to the blazing fire, and repelling his plot is done through remembrance (dhikr), seeking refuge in Allah, and seeking His protection, for "indeed, the plot of Satan has ever been weak." 4. This World (Dunya): Its remedy is asceticism towards it and turning towards the Hereafter. 5. Bad Company: A person is on the religion of his close friend, hence the necessity of choosing righteous company.
