Who are the Companions of the Right?

The exegetes differed regarding the identification of the Companions of the Right (Aṣḥāb al-Yamīn), presenting eight opinions. These include:

Those who were to the right of Adam when his progeny was brought forth. Those who receive their books in their right hands. Those who are blessed in themselves. Those who were taken from the right side of Adam. Those whose station will be on the right. The people of Paradise. The people of high standing. Those who will be taken to Paradise on the right.
