What should one do who is afflicted with a constricted livelihood, a sin he cannot abandon, and a wife who makes his life miserable, despite his supplication, seeking forgiveness, commitment to prayer, and avoidance of unlawful acts?

A constriction in sustenance may occur due to divine wisdom, and it is not a sign of Allah's wrath. Allah expands and restricts sustenance according to wisdoms that minds cannot comprehend. One must be content with Allah's decree and destiny, while taking the lawful means to earn sustenance and striving in work. Piety towards Allah and sincere repentance are among the greatest causes for the expansion of sustenance, as are persistent supplication and not despairing of a response.
