Is it permissible for those in a state of ihram to pray the Asr prayer in congregation with two rak’ahs as a shortened prayer after missing the congregational prayer in the Sacred Mosque? And what is incumbent upon them if they err? And is it permissible to pray in congregation as a shortened prayer in the Two Holy Mosques for one who missed the prayer with the Imam?

Al-Masjid al-Haram and the Prophet's Mosque, like other mosques, permit the shortening of prayer for anyone for whom the ruling of travel is established. Shortening is permissible for one whose stay in a city is less than four days. If a traveler intends to stay for four days or more, shortening is not permissible for him, and in this case, he must repeat the prayer that was shortened.
